House Surtees
Located on the banks of the Modderrivier, House Surtees offer exceptional views.
The open design allows a view of the river from the entrance through the lunge and patio.
A gabion wall on the western side forms the main eco-friendly climate control. In winter the glass boxes on the outside heat up and the heat is then transfers to the gabion stones which in turn radiates the heat into the house throughout the night. In summer the glass boxes are opened, and ventilation prevents them from heating up. Water is dripped over the stones which has a cooling effect.
