SKCM was accountable for the design and construction supervision of the Pump Station.

The sump of the pump station is upgraded from a storage capacity of 13m³ to 26m³, 2x duty and stand-by, pumps controlled with Variable Speed Drives (VSD’s), an emergency diesel generator for power outages and refurbishment of the pump house.

This recycling centre is built just next to the landfill site outside Aliwal North on the road to Burgersdorp.  There is no sewer or water reticulation in the area, so we had to implement rain water harvesting principals with a septic tank and french drain.

To save on the electricity cost, semi-translucent poly-carbonate panels were used for the roof.  Limited artificial lighting is required.
